There are plenty of reasons to start a short-term rental.  One of the best reasons is to diversify the investments that you might have.  My personal favorite reason is to ensure that I have a reason to visit all of my favorite destinations with regularity (click to see why I started my rental journey in Vieques with sound on).  I have never been able to decide between the ocean or the mountains, so having a rental in each is an exceptional way to feed the need for fresh mountain air and sea salt breeze.
